Sugar Cookie Dough

A classic sugar cookie dough recipe that is perfect for rolling out and cutting into your favorite shapes. This dough is buttery, sweet, and easy to work with, making it ideal for baking delicious sugar cookies.

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture and beat until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
Divide the dough into two equal portions and flatten each into a disk shape. Wrap each disk tightly in plastic wrap.
Refrigerate the dough disks for at least 1 hour before rolling out and cutting into shapes as desired.
