A rich and moist chocolate cake made with Hershey’s cocoa powder, perfect for any celebration or chocolate craving.
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup Hershey’s cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, Hershey’s cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed until well combined, about 2 minutes.
Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but this is correct.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes.
Turn the cakes out onto a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
