Ingredients

Scale

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt to make the blackening spice blend.
Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and place them in a medium bowl.
Sprinkle the blackening spice blend over the shrimp and toss to coat evenly.
Heat a large cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat.
Add the olive oil and butter to the skillet and heat until the butter is melted and foaming.
Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
Cook the shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes on one side without moving them, until they develop a dark crust.
Flip the shrimp and cook for an additional 2 minutes until opaque and cooked through.
Remove the shrimp from the skillet and transfer to a serving plate.
Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
