Tender and flavorful shredded chicken cooked slowly in a crock pot, perfect for easy and delicious chicken sandwiches.
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
6 sandwich buns, split
6 slices cheddar cheese
Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot.
In a medium bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the crock pot.
Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the chicken is very tender and easily shredded with a fork.
Remove the chicken breasts from the crock pot and place them on a large plate or cutting board.
Use two forks to shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Return the shredded chicken to the crock pot and stir to coat with the sauce.
Turn the crock pot to warm to keep the chicken hot while preparing the sandwiches.
To assemble the sandwiches, place a generous amount of shredded chicken on the bottom half of each sandwich bun.
Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese.
Place the top half of the buns on the sandwiches and serve immediately.
