Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 medium yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup diced tomatoes, drained
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Add diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.
Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
Drain excess fat from the skillet if necessary.
Stir in smoked paprika, dried oregano, ground cumin, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
Add beef broth, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste to the skillet. Stir to combine all ingredients.
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
Remove skillet from heat and stir in chopped fresh parsley.
Serve hot over cooked rice, mashed potatoes, or with crusty bread.
